21 July (Reuters) On the first day of the second test against the West Indies in Port of Spain on Thursday, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja produced a century partnership for the unbroken fifth wicket to lead India to 288-4.
India got off to a good start at the Queen’s Park Oval in their innings after being put into bat thanks to an opening stand of 139 between captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
However, they lost four wickets in the second session, almost blowing the momentum they had built up, before Kohli and Jadeja teamed up for a 106-run stand to keep the innings steady.
Kohli, playing in his 500th international game, was batting on 87 in with Jadeja on 36 at the other end.
Both Rohit and Jaiswal had smashed hundreds in the opening test in Roseau, where India triumphed inside three days to go 1-0 up in the two-test series, and they picked up right where they left off.
India scored at a rate of nearly five an over in the first session with both openers bringing up their half-centuries before Jason Holder broke the stand when he had Jaiswal caught in the gully for 57. sports
After failing to reach his second consecutive century, Jaiswal, who struck 171 on his test debut at Roseau, was unable to conceal his dissatisfaction.
The left-handed batsman, age 21, said to reporters, “Of course I’m disappointed, but everything happens in cricket.
I simply need to keep learning and consider how I may do better in my upcoming innings.

India fell to 182-4 as spinner Jomel Warrican prevented Rohit (80) from reaching his century and Ajinkya Rahane (Eight) pulled a delivery from Shannon Gabriel onto his stumps.
