The BNP Paribas Open, which will take place in Indian Wells, California from March 8 to 19, will launch the North American spring season. The nearly two-week tournament will feature concurrent men’s and women’s competitions.

The forthcoming competition will mark the 34th and 49th iterations of the men’s and women’s events, respectively. The women’s tournament is billed as a WTA 1000 competition, while the men’s event is an ATP Masters 1000 contest.
Over the years, the BNP Paribas Open has featured plenty of A-list athletes. All eyes will be on past US Open champion Daniil Medvedev at the 2023 edition because of his recent success in tournaments in February.

BNP Paribas Open 2023 Preview:

The erstwhile World No. 1 is now in Dubai, aiming for a third consecutive victory, following victories in Rotterdam and Doha. Notably, the Russian defeated Novak Djokovic, the winner of the Australian Open, in the match’s quarterfinals.

Djokovic’s involvement in Indian Wells is still uncertain. On his appeal for a waiver of the vaccination requirement, the Serb is presently awaiting word from the US government.

Rafael Nadal, a three-time champion and last year’s runner-up, will be noticeably missing as he continues to recover from a left leg injury. Carlos Alcaraz, a former World No. 1 who won the Argentina Open on his return, is battling time to be ready for Indian Wells.

Taylor Fritz, the winner from the previous season and owner of the Delray Beach Open prize, will be attempting to successfully defend his crown.

On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek, who won in Doha a few weeks ago, will be the favourite to repeat as the winner in 2022.

The Australian Open champion’s winning run was broken in Dubai, and it is still unclear whether she will be able to recover in time. Barbora Krejcikova, who was recently crowned champion in Dubai, will attempt to maintain her streak of crushing giants at Indian Wells.

As we approach the Indian Wells quarterfinals, business is afoot. Many of the top seeds and notable draws are surprisingly still in the running in both the men’s and women’s tournaments, including Coco Gauf, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina for the women. Taylor Fritz, Francis Tiafoe, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, and Carlos Alcaraz are all still competing in the men’s division.

Indian Wells is the first part of the coast-to-coast Sunshine Double and arguably the biggest tennis event outside of the Grand Slams. It is also one of the season’s most glamorous events. At the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, where Iga Swiatek and Taylor Fritz will defend their titles, the men’s and women’s draws are poised beautifully, albeit for various reasons.

With Aryna Sabalenka’s victory at the Australian Open, the women’s draw now features three active Grand Slam champions who are at the peak of their game. The other two are Swiatek and Elena Rybakina, but there are many other competitors who appear poised to advance.

Coco Gauff is at the top of that list, and she’ll be trying to show it in today’s quarterfinal matchup with Sabalenka.

Due to Rafael Nadal’s injury and Novak Djokovic’s vaccination status, the men’s draw has become more open, and Fritz and Cameron Norrie have both emerged as unexpected victors. The No. 1 seed, Carlos Alcaraz, has recently been plagued by medical problems. He shares a difficult path through the draw, but in the Round of 16, he won thanks to a walkover against Jack Draper. The quarterfinal matchup tonight will require the Spaniard to defeat Felix Auger Aliassime.

Here’s how to watch an Indian Wells 2023 live broadcast from anywhere, beginning with access that’s completely free in the UK. The tournament schedule is also mentioned further down the page.
